OTOH, if you're playing a build that struggles to hit GR70, you might well Augment with level 60 gems, so that you can push higher to level up gems more. If you are playing a build that can clear GR85 with no Augments, then you generally shouldn't be Augmenting with gems less than 75-80. The definition of 'high level' and 'mid level' will change as you progress in power.

I don't Augment gear that I'm actively trying to replace until I have Augmented everything else. If my gems available for Augmenting are mid-level, I target gear that is very good, but not perfect.
